The Assistant Director of Payroll will serve as a key leader within the payroll department, working closely with the Director of Payroll to manage and oversee Workday payroll operations for both corporate and property levels. Based at our corporate office in Atlanta with a hybrid schedule, this role is designed for a highly organized and detail-oriented payroll professional with a passion for the hospitality industry. The Assistant Director of Payroll will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our 85+ hotel and resort locations across the U.S. They will assist in the development and implementation of payroll procedures, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and provide leadership to the payroll team.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management or a similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry. Experience with multi-state payrolls and complex benefit programs is highly desirable.
Certifications: Workday Payroll and Time Tracking certification highly desired. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Workday Payroll and Time Tracking and the administration level. Strong system and data flow knowledge specifically with Workday payroll configuration and setup, Workday Time Tracking and working closely with the HRIS team to resolve any payroll related issues in Workday. Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing a team, with strong organizational and supervisory skills. Ability to motivate and develop team members.
Compliance Knowledge: Thorough understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and statutory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization.
Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
